www.mediafire.com/?mjmnkndjjezSo this is a recording of david bowie playing a show in 1996 and listen to this backup vocals (they are slightly delayed from his un-autotuned voice). this seems like alegitmate case of autotune being used and LIVE at that! tim from YYD showed me this tonight and i was amazed! what do you think?

Cher used it on her song Believe in 1998, though it does indeed sound like Bowie used it earlier! It was around for quite awhile before that, but wasn't being maxed out and used as a deliberate effect, just used lightly to make vocals sound more on key.

Hm...according to an article I just read, Antares released the first version of Autotune in 1997. So that's probably a vocoder.

you dont think it couldve been another processor actually doing autotune cause it sounds like it could be a prerecorded track not a live processing since the delay amounts are different for different words and parts..
