My baritone 'uke has this annoying habit of making a buzzing sound when an "a" is played on the g string (second fret). This is the ONLY note/fret that does this. I originally thought it was a string problem, which partly was it. But even after changing the string, it still buzzes. Any ideas?

Maybe it's the fret. Has it always done this? Maybe the fret is slightly uneven there.

Is it missing a string? Machine heads vibrating makes a buzzing sound. other than that... I have no idea.

thanks for all of the suggestions!
I am thinking that the fretboard is warped/uneven. I am not sure whether or not there are truss rods in the neck, so I think i am just going to leave it; the buzzing adds a ... unique sound to my playing!

So here's an update:
now, not only does the buzzing noise come about when playing 2nd-fret G string, but the correct note in standard tuning (DGBE), A, comes out one semitone higher (A-sharp). So, I emailed Lanikai (my email got redirected to Hohner, who apparently do the warranties on the Lanikai 'ukes in America) and the guy said that it was probably a raised fret. So I'm bringing the 'uke to my local Guitar Center and see if they can fix it (if that is indeed the problem).
Thanks again to everyone who responded!

I don't even think I would notice if this happened to my ukulele. Actually, I'm pretty sure it does happen, my uke is buzzy as all shit.

i can't recommend fluke and flea ukuleles highly enough (at least as far as non-baritone ukes go). i've been pretty hard on mine with somewhat warped tunings, but have never gotten any buzzing. the intonation is ridiculously good up the neck, too. they're a bit more expensive than some (and a whole lot cheaper than some others, too), but they sound really nice and they stand up! on their bottoms! with no assistance! how cool is that? then again, sometimes buzzing and not-so-perfect intonation is exactly what the music needs. i mean, i have a thoroughly crappy cheap-as-sin toy ukulele with horrible intonation and it sounds awful, but sometimes it's just right. all about context.
this wasn't helpful at all, and came too late to be helpful in any case. i guess i shouldn't eat cereal after midnight. it impedes my ability to assist.
